My research for a mentor was pretty easy. I mentioned my project to my mom and she recommended that I reach out to the guy that built the addition on my house. So the day after I emailed him, he got right back to me and he agreed to be my mentor. So I met with him to go over what my project would be, where I am going to build it, and how big the shed would be. After that we discussed what materials I need to get and made a list. However the quote of $4,000 was too much for the homeowner so I had to modify the plans and bring the cost down to $1,300.

It took me about an hour to place the 4 blocks and make them square and then build the foundation. One mistake that I made was I did not know pressure treated wood was ½ inch longer than kiln dried wood. So when I built the walls, I had to compensate for the ½ inch on the end. The other problem that I had was the plywood on the roof. I made the pitch of the roof at a 30 degree angle and it was really steep. It was difficult to stand on the roof to install the shingles.
